When I fueled up, I grabbed a granola bar for breakfast. I usually like to start my day with a heartier breakfast. I rode for about 2 hours and my stomach was really growling. I could see a storm moving just in front of me and I kept hoping I would catch it.
I pulled off and stopped at this little place to get something to eat. The ground was puddled in various spots and I knew I had just missed the storm again. There was a line waiting to be helped which seemed strange this early in the morning.
You could see the stress on the young boy’s face taking the orders. His black hair was messy and he kept going into the back talking to the lady in charge. He would come back and say to the customer, “I’m sorry but we don’t have that right now.”
There was a tall man in front of me. He must have stood 6 foot 4 inches. He wore glasses and had a large presence. He was in slacks and a white button up shirt. His hands were as big as platters. “Nice ride you pulled in on,” he turned and said. We started to talk and he told me about his son that was a police officer. He had retired, himself, a few years back and now drove the flag cars for big loads. He said the power had been out for the last few hours due to the storm. It had just come back on about 30 minutes ago.
I got my food and as I was walking out the door, I turned to him, smiled and waved. I sat on the curb to eat with my Dragon Slayer. My legs were stretched out in front of me. I was not wearing my leathers today.
He walked up to me just I as I was finishing eating. “I’m not hitting on you or anything, but damn you are beautiful.” He then turned and walked away. I started grinning ear to ear. Life is going to be just fine!!
